Terrorism means use of force and threats against persons groups or governments for political or other purposes.terrorism is not a modern activity.Hundreds of years ago societies were not as organized as they are today with modern facilities of roads, telephone, regular police force, and so on.Then heads of strong group of people, robbers and warriors made use of force and threats to life and property.Now terrorism itself is a quite an organized activity. There are terrorist organizations or societies that train terrorist for their purposes. Sometimes these organizations are supported by foreign governments.The most devastating international terrorist actions of this century until now were the 11 September 2001 aerial attacks on the world trade center in New York, the pentagon in Washington and the plane crash in Pennsylvania.Thousands of people from America and other countries were killed and property worth billions of dollars was destroyed. All this cause huge economic losses to our and other countries, immediate sufferings to the afghans and a war situation in south Asia.A regular terrorist organization usually works against the government. It tries to damage essential government buildings, offices and public places like trade centers railway stations and airports with bobms and destructive weapons.This sets the people against the govrement and causes public demonstrations. The bomb blasts and the resulting deaths and destruction are an example of such terrorism. A terrorist organization operating in a country usually gets money and weapons for foreign goverments to promote state terrorism.It also joins ahands with forceful groups or parties opposed to the government inside the country. Nations and big communities within a country use terrorist methods to gain greater freedom or independence.thus the sikhs in india have been commiting acts of terrorism to achive self-rule in the punjab.the lrish people in north ireland have been terrorizing the british government to force it to grant them independence.thirdly, there are international terrorist , like carlos in the past, who actively hijack planes or kidnap (take away unlawfully) important or rich persons.they demand huge amounts of money for the release of prisoner or some political concession for the return of the aeroplanes, passengers or the kidnaped person. Air hijackings have been quite common.the causes of terrorism in different parts of the world should be removed on emergency basis with the help of the world powers and the UN.the chief causes are injustices done to the palestinians in the middle East , to the people of kashmir in south asia, to the chechens in south russia and to the poor people of the third world in east, West,South and north.terrorism needs to be checked very carefully. The different governments should force all the people illegally present in ther countries to leave.They should force the refugees to remain in their camps all the time. They should arrange to stop the illegal flow of arms and money into the countries from abroad.They should have effective secret services which can report all kinds of terrorist plans. They may help UN to establish speacial anti terrorist force. The deployment of the police or the army on a large scale can be discussed in newspaper.On the radio TV the mass media and in the elected assemblies.
