This up and coming music artist is all set to release her very first music album “Born to Die” in January of 2012. Lana Del Rey single “ Video Games” created massive hype when it was posted online and pushed her music into mainstream. Although her album is yet to be released, she somehow managed to land the very coveted music spot on SNL.
SNL fans and celebrities have come out to bash the somewhat dull and boring musical performance by Lana. According to The Firm’s Juliette Lewis who posted a Tweet on the social network Twitter about Lana’s performance “Wow watching this ‘singer’ on SNL is like watching a 12 year old [sic] in their bedroom when theyre pretending to sing and perform #signofourtimes.”
Juliette Lewis who is a talented singer herself and has opened for musical heavy weights such as the Foo fighters and Chris Cornell. This was the sentiment expressed by most on Twitter who complained of Del Rey’s performance to be bland and jittery.
“I expected to be blown away by Lana Del Rey due to the hype. It's time for SNL to get a real band on,” expressed @NeonBMC. And furthermore:
“I love you but that was a HOT MESS,” snapped @MsPearlSnaps.
According to the music artist “ I don't think they've ever had anyone perform who didn't even have a record out, so I do appreciate it," she told MTV News last week. "I'm a good musician. And I may not have a record out now, but I have been singing for a very long time, and I think that Lorne [Michaels] knows that, and everyone over there knows that. It's not a fluke decision”.
Well these sentiments were not shared
after her live performance on the stage of Saturday Night Live. Viewers came
out to criticize the starlet and the team of SNL for choosing such an
inexperienced performer. According to actress Eliza Dusshku : "Who.....is.....this wack-a-doodle
chick performing on #SNL..? Whaaaa?" she tweeted. Well watch the video yourself and be the judge. Is Lana Del Ray a fluke or did the nerves kick in for this performer? After all it was her first live performance in America and that too in front of millions of SNL viewers.
