This is an alternative method of medicine. In this mode of therapy, a therapist trained in color therapy can use color and light to balance energy in the body. This energy can be used to balance physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energy. Color therapy traces its origins thousands of years back. Color is light of various wavelength and frequencies. Visible color plays an important role in all our lives. Colors are all around us. When used in an efficient way, color can has a profound effect on our lives and around us. As already mentioned, this therapy traces its roots from ancient Egypt, China and India. There are seven main color spectrums which coincide with the energy of each of the seven main chakras/energy centers of the body. The colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. The body can be thought as a machine and each individual part needs to work efficiently and systematically to compliment the other part. It is said that good health and well being is achieved by a balance of all these energies. These chakras and energy levels should be balanced to achieve optimum mental, spiritual, emotional and physical health. Color therapy works by stimulating and re balancing these energies by applying the appropriate color to the body to rebalance the chakras.
Red relates to the base chakra, orange the sacral chakra, yellow the solar plexus chakra, green the heart chakra, blue the throat chakra, indigo the brow chakra (sometimes referred to as the third eye) and violet relates to the crown chakra. Color is engaged by the eyes, skin, skull our ‘magnetic energy field’ or aura and the energy of color affects us on all our levels such as the physical, spiritual and emotional levels. Every cell in the body needs light energy.
Color Therapy is a totally holistic and non-invasive mode of therapy. Color is part of everyday life and is everywhere around us. As is with nature, color envelops us and is seen every where. Color was also created for purpose. This blessing can be utilized to bring peace and comfort to our lives.
